Dutch Garden Center - About Us

The History of Dutch Garden Center:

Dutch Garden Center was established by Bas van Buuren.  He grew up in Westland, which is an area and community in the province Zuid-Holland in the Netherlands.  It is known as the "city of glass" because of the large number of greenhouses. This area is also well known for its agricultural business.

Bas attended Lambuth University in Jackson, TN, and while there he met his future wife Amy from McKenzie, TN.  While building their lives together in Humboldt, he began to miss the glass greenhouses and agriculture of his home country.  He frequently could not find what he was looking for at other garden centers in this region, so he started to make plans for his own.  Not just a regular garden center, but a DUTCH garden center like you would see in the Netherlands, with focus on quality and service.  His garden center would offer a nice shopping environment with beautiful hard-to-find plants and trees, pavers and natural stone, ornaments and furniture.  That's how the Dutch Garden Center began.

Dutch Garden Center was established in 2002 with one glass greenhouse in Three Way, TN, just a few short minutes north of Jackson before you get to Humboldt.  Thanks to this glass greenhouse, the plants benefit from optimal sunlight.

At the end of 2007 until March 2008, the team of Dutch and American people started remodeling the garden center to optimize the shopping convenience.  We now have a beautiful octagon facility with show gardens, a large shade greenhouse, and so much more!

Stop on by . . . we’d love to see you!
