Proper Time to Mulch

-Mulch can be applied at any time of the year.  The best time to apply mulch is late spring after the soil has warmed.

Early spring mulching may delay soil warming and possibly delay new growth.

In the fall mulch should be applied after the soil starts to freeze.  If applied too early it may keep the soil too warm and the plant will continue to grow when it should be going into dormancy.
