Success With Fountains
FACTS ON FOUNTAINS
Congratulations if you are considering purchasing or have already purchased a fountain. To aid you in your decision and provide maximum enjoyment of your fountain, please be aware that your fountain will work best when you:
- Prepare a hard and level waterproof surface. We recommend deck, patio, properly set paver stone or poured concrete base. We can prepare a paver stone base for you, for an additional fee.
- Properly install an electrical outlet near the fountain (it eliminates long extension cords.)
- Install a switch or timer to turn the fountain on/off so it runs when you are present so you can enjoy it (operating it less than 24-hours per day will save water as well as reduce wear).
- Regularly fill the fountain with water. The bigger the reservoir, the longer it can run before it needs re-filling. All fountains will lose water from splashing, wind blown droplets and evaporation.
- Do not allow the fountain to run dry. IT WILL BURN OUT THE PUMP!
- Clean regularly to remove debris and algae. The pump will not cycle the water properly if it is dirty. We recommend you use an algae suppressant.
- Protect the fountain from "lawn mower dings" and other possible physical damage.
PLEASE REMEMBER
The finish on all fountains will "weather" over time.
Fountains are guaranteed to work at the time of delivery. We cannot guarantee against freeze damage, pump burnout or fading of finish.
RESTOCK FEE
There may be a restocking fee on all returned fountains. See Store Manager for details.
WINTERIZATION
For winter protection of your fountain, we recommend you:
- Bring small fountains indoors to protect them from freezing.
- Drain large fountains completely, remove the pump, and store indoors. Be sure to cover the fountain with the correct size cover to protect the fountain from freezing and to help preserve the finish. The cover must remain straight and taut so rain and melting snow do not re-enter.
CAUTION: Freezing water in the base will crack and damage the fountain!!
